Aqiqah / Aqeeqah (عقیقہ)

Sacrifice of the animal after the birth of a baby to thank Almighty Allah. It is a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet as well. If the baby is a boy, then two goats/sheep need to be slaughtered and if the baby is a girl, then a single goat/sheep is sacrificed. The meat from this sacrificed can be eaten by the individual who is doing the sacrifice and can be distributed amongst their families and the poor as well.
