Shahada (شھادۃ)

Shahada is actually a declaration of one’s faith. It is to testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and Prophet Muhammad is His the last Messenger. In order to become a Muslim, a person needs to make this declaration with his/her tongue and accept it sincerely from his/her heart. The declaration is made with the following words:

اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إلَّا اللّٰه، وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَّسُولُ اللّٰه.

Ash-hadu Al-La Ilaha Il-lal-laho wa Ash-hadu An-na Muhammadar Rasoolullah..

I testify that there is no God except Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the (last) Messenger of Allah.
