Qiyas [font, alqalamreg, (قیاس)

It is analogical reasoning in which the commandment of Quran or Sunnah which is applied to a known problem, is applied to a new circumstance/problem on the basis of a common reason between the two problems. In other words, it refers to extend the commandment of Quran and Sunnah for Maqees Alaih (مقیس علیہ, old known problem) to Maqees (مقیس, new problem) on the basis of a Illat-e-Jamia Mushtarika (علت جامعۃ مشترکۃ, common reason).
