Mukatib (مکاتب)

This word refers to that slave who has an agreement to be set free after earning a certain amount. That agreed amount is paid to the owner and the slave is set free. Sometimes, the agreed amount is paid by the government or by the virtuous wealthy people of society to free a slave from the curse of bondman-ship.
