Muhaddis (محدث, Plural. Muhadditheen)

This is a title of a scholar who has learned a great number of Ahadith and knows about the authenticity of its text and chain of narrators. The individual, therefore is considered a specialist and authority on the science of traditions of Prophet Muhammad . Now-a-days this term is also used for those who teach Ahadith in Madaris and other religious institutions.
