Mazhab means the path way. In terminology, it refers to different schools of Islamic jurisprudence generally followed by Muslims such as Hanafi, Maliki, Shafai, Hanbali etc. These schools are called different Mazahib of Islamic Law which were developed to explain the teachings of Quran and Sunnah in a systematic way for the ease of a common man. Their basis are same (Quran and Sunnah) but they differ in relation of secondary tools/sources and legal interpretations of different verses of Quran and traditions of Prophet Muhammad .
