Kunniyah (کنیۃ)/Teknonym

Kunniyah refers to a name of an adult, usually derived from the oldest child. A kunniyah of a male is referred to as Abu, and of a female as Umm.

Example of a male teknonym: Abu Jandal, which refers to Father of Jandal.
Example of female teknonym: Umm-e-Aishah, which refers to Mother of Aishah.
