Kufr, Kufar (کفر)

The word Kufr literally means 'to deny' or to 'disagree'. Religiously, it refers to heresy, more specifically, rejecting Islam. According to Islamic doctrine, Kufr is the rejection of Tauhid, the Holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad . The individual who indulges in Kufr is called a Kaafir (کافر) if male, and Kaafira (کافرۃ) if female. Any individual who dies in a state of Kufr is destined to live in hell, eternally.
