Kaffara (کفارہ)

It is an obligatory compensation which is made in the form of charity or sometimes by specific actions. Kaffara is waged when someone commits a mistake or violate a particular way of performing a specific action which is liable in Shariah and demands a compensation. For e.g. Kaffara of breaking an oath is to feed or clothe 10 needy people. In case of unavailability of that much food or clothes due to scarcity, he/she must keep fast for three consecutive days.
