Iqamat/Iqamah (اقامۃ)

It is a call or an announcement which is made just before the standing of Jama’at (congregational prayer). It is Sunnah to utter the words of Iqamat/Iqamah before every congregational prayer whether it is offered in masjid/mosque or at any other place. It is also uttered in the left ear of a Muslim child just after his/her birth following the Adhan/Azan in his/her right ear. It is generally articulated swiftly as compare to Adhan/Azan because it is uttered to draw the attention of already presented people who are in waiting of congregational prayer to offer.
