Ijara [font, alqalamreg, (اجارۃ)

It means to give something on rent. It is generally of two types: The first type is a contract between two parties in which one hires the services of the second on wages, in which employer is called mustajir (مستاجر) and service provider is called ajir (اجیر). Secondly, it is a contract of rent in which the lessee only possesses the product like house, car, machine etc. for a specific time period. The rent is charged on the benefits which the lessee enjoys while possessing the asset. After the agreed upon time period, the asset is returned to the owner, or if the owner wishes, he/she can gift it to the lessee.
