Fidya (فدیہ)

It is an obligatory donation (a form of charity) of food or money in Islam to help those who are in need. Fidya is paid when someone leaves any particular ibadat due to any cogent reason like in Ramadan if someone misses a fast due to a valid reason such as severe illness which can never be covered up, extreme age (young or old) or pregnancy, so he/she is bound to pay Fidya.
