Al-Nafs Al-Lawwamah (النفس الوّامۃ)

This is the conscious and self-critical part of the soul. It recognizes mistakes and sins, feels guilty, and seeks repentance. This is the stage of struggle (Jihad al-Nafs) where a person fights against their bad desires.
