I’tikaf (اعتکاف)

It is a voluntary spiritual retreat or seclusion within a mosque (for males) and at home (for females), undertaken by a Muslim (mu'takif) during a specific period, often the last ten days of Ramadan. It involves dedicated worship, prayer, Quran recitation, and reflection, with the intention of seeking closeness to Allah and distancing oneself from worldly matters. I'tikaf is a recommended practice, particularly during the last ten nights of Ramadan, including Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power), and is an opportunity for increased devotion and spiritual reflection.
