Hafiz (حافظ)

It literally means protector or guardian, and in the terminological sense, it refers to an individual who has memorized a particular body of knowledge by heart. For example, someone who has memorized the entire Quran is called "Hafiz Al-Quran," while a person who has memorized the text of 100,000 Ahadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad) along with their chain of narration is known as "Hafiz Al-Hadith." The term is used to acknowledge individuals who have committed significant religious or scholarly texts to memory.
