Farz (فرض)

It is an Arabic term which translates to "obligatory" or "mandatory" in English. In the context of Islamic practices, "Farz" refers to religious duties or obligations that are obligatory for every Muslim to fulfill. These duties are considered essential and are not optional. Examples of faraiz include 5 daily prayers, fasting in Ramadan, Hajj, Zakat etc. Compliance with Farz is viewed as a central aspect of a Muslim's religious responsibility and thus if an individual does not perform, then he/she commits a sin. However, if an individual refutes a farz or faraiz, then he/she does not remain a Muslim.
