Aalim (“عالم” Plural - Ulema)

A Muslim religious scholar who is well versed in traditional religious sciences such as Tafseer ul Quran (Commentary of the Holy Quran), Ahadith (Science of the traditions/sayings of the Holy Prophet), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Arabic language and grammar, Classical Arabic poetry and prose, and Islamic history etc. The main duty of these people is to propagate the true message of Islam to the non-Muslims (so that they can attain guidance) and Muslims, so that they follow what Allah Almighty has commanded and abstain from what he has prohibited.
