EMAAN/IMAAN (ایمان)

Emaan literally refers to Believe. However, religiously, it means to have faith in Allah, His angels, His Revealed Books, His Prophets, the Day of Judgement, Divine Decree of Predestination, that all good and evil comes from Allah, and the final resurrection. If an individual wants to become a Muslim, then, he/she needs to believe in these eternal truths, wholeheartedly, and declare it from his/her tongue.

If, due to some reason or insecurity, the individual is unable to declare it with his/her tongue, then merely believing in the things mentioned above suffices. It is recommended that an individual should declare his/her shahadah and emaan, so that other people know that the individual is now a Muslim, and they treat him/her accordingly.
