Noah Alaihis Salam was the most distinct personality after Adam Alaihis Salam and Idrees Alaihis Salam and is considered as a major individual in Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Islam. In Hinduism, Noah Alaihis Salam was called Manu 1 In later texts, Manu is the title or name of mystical sage-rulers of earth, or alternatively as the head of mythical dynasties that begin with each cyclic kalpa (a Sanskrit word which means an aeon, or a relatively long period of time (by human calculation) in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. The concept is first mentioned in the Mahabharata.) when the universe is born anew. The title of the text Manusmriti uses this term as a prefix, but refers to the first Manu – Svayambhuva, the spiritual son of Brahma. Penguin Books. Delhi.] and is considered as the father of humanity but Judaism, Christianity and Islam called him as “Adam the second”. Here we are going to take the excerpts referring to Noah Alaihis Salam which are found in different books of other religions and going to figure out the predictions in them about Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam .

First Prophecy

Whenever I cover the sky with clouds, and the rainbow appears, I will remember my promise to you and to all the animals that a flood will never again destroy all living beings. When the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between me and all living beings on earth. That is the sign of the promise which I am making to all living beings.” The sons of Noah who went out of the boat were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) These three sons of Noah were the ancestors of all the people on earth. 3

If we take the abstract of this prediction according to the teachings of different religions, following themes are established in the light of the event of Deluge, The Great Flood:

  • In the upcoming period, there will be moral, spiritual and physical upheavals which will emerge not nearby but universally and globally.
  • In return of those upheavals no Deluge, The Great Flood will come from the God which shall wipe out the whole world as it was done before.
  • God promised that His bow shall be in the cloud and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh, but the bow will be carried out (by someone).

In the religious scriptures like The Bible, The Rig Veda, The Zend-Avesta, the term of holding or lifting the bow means to start the war. And “to set” or “to place” the bow means to end the war which shows the emergence of the personality who is going to lift the bow and will demonstrate the traitors the message of Allah. If we ponder on the given points, two points emerge in general:

The evil deeds which were followed at the time of Noah Alaihis Salam will be followed again not on the domestic or local level but universally.

When the evil deeds emerge, so the wrath of Allah will not come from the Heavens in the form of flood, hurricane or cyclone to wipe out the whole humanity altogether but His determination will exhibit by the hand of someone who will carry the bow and will control the wrongdoers through this.

History tells us that he was the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam who took action against all the traitors, wrongdoers, transgressors and evildoers of Arab and His companions extended the expeditions to the different parts of the World to civilise the humanity and educate them the message of Allah. Evil deeds of wrongdoers were spreading throughout the world, but its punishment was not for all according to the Gods promise that the waters should no more become a flood to destroy all flesh and the bow would be in the cloud, and He would look upon it. That is because of the Holy Prophet Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam who was sent as the blessing for the whole universe, as the Holy Quran states:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ 1074
And We did not send you (O dear Prophet Mohammed Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam) except as a mercy for the entire world.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam is the one who will drive the ark of whole humanity to the coast of Allah’s blessed place, the paradise. Allah sent His beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam for this purpose and World history proofs that he was the one who did this great job all alone according to the prediction of The Bible: Genesis 9: 14-19.

This prophecy cannot be applied to Jesus Christ Alaihis Salam, as Jesus Alaihis Salam was sent “Only to the lost sheep of the Children of Israel” 5 and not to the whole of humankind. Besides, Jesus Alaihis Salam never said that he was sent as a mercy for the whole creatures, as there were sincere believers among the Israelites, including the prophets Zechariah Alaihis Salam and John Alaihis Salam the Baptist.

Another common factor in all the flood stories is the existence of an Ark. The Holy Prophet Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam says that his household (meaning his way, which is represented first and foremost by His Household) is like the Ark of Noah Alaihis Salam. 6 Just as Noah Alaihis Salam and his followers were rescued from drowning in flood using an Ark, so will the Holy Prophet Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam and his mission is like an Ark by which people will be saved from drowning in the flood of corruption, sin and being destroyed. It is not only Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam who spoke about the master of the ship but the prophets of various religions, too, made prophecies in their respective scriptures about the Ark or the ship. Just as Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam himself likened the Holy Quran and his sunnah (actions) or his way of the practice of Islam to the Ark of Noah Alaihis Salam, there are, for example, Mantras (verses) in the Vedas concerning the ship and its masters.

Second Prophecy

As though we offered up our gifts to Indra, may we ascend him as a ship for safety, like the two wide worlds, broad, deep far-extended, may we be safe both when he comes and leaves you. 7

Third Prophecy

For Jatavedas let us press the Soma: may he consume the wealth of the malignant. May Agni carry us through all our troubles, through grief as in a boat across the river. 8

Fourth Prophecy

May he, the Saviour much-invoked, may Indra bear us in a ship, safely beyond all enemies. 9

Fifth Prophecy

May we ascend the ship that bears us safely whereby we may pass over all misfortunes. 10

Sixth Prophecy

The well-oared heavenly ship that lets no waters in, free from defect, will we ascend to achieve tranquillity for happiness. 11

These predictions of Rig Veda show that the word “ship” is not used here for the ship of wood or steel, but it is something different than these two. If someone is going to ascend on it, he/she will be safe up to a large extent, and the words of “two wide worlds” mentioned in the first prediction are of this World and Hereafter. It is a ship that saves people from all dangers and carries them to safety. It is a perfect heavenly ship, and protecetd against leakage. It is a well-oared ship of safety for humankind and is the means of security for the entire world. It is also the beloved of people.

For us, it is Islam in which whosoever will board, he/she will be safe from all sorts of misleadings and confusions in the both Worlds. Islamic Sharia is the actual floating ship which carries all the passengers towards their destination of Heaven. Moreover, the personality who will come and leave is the personality of Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam whose arrival was a blessing and whose departure is also a blessing as it is mentioned in the hadith:

حياتي خير لكم ومماتي خير لكم. 12
My life is a blessing for you, and my demise is a blessing for you.

Additionally, Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam is the one whose fame was spread across the World, and his religion and sharia are the ways which will save humanity from all the enemies of the World and the Devil, and he is the true saviour who is much invoked.

Seventh Prophecy

There is another mantra in the Vedas which proves that the ship of which the Vedas speak, stands for the Holy Quran and the sunnah and that its master is Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam. Atharva Veda states:

“You for your weal, Aditya (sun), have mounted your ship with a hundred oars, you have transported me today so bear me ever more tonight.” 13

According to the words of Atharva Veda, The Holy Quran states about the Holy Prophet Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam:

وَسِرَاجًا مُّنِيرًا 4614
and as the sun that enlightens.

The mantra of the Vedas under discussion also speaks of the Holy Prophet Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam as the sun and of the ship which he mounts with a hundred oars. The Holy Quran has 114 Chapters. The word shat (meaning a hundred in the mantra) in the Vedas is not always used for exactly a hundred, but for around a hundred. Therefore, the ship with a hundred oars stands for the Holy Quran which has a few more than a hundred chapters. There is not another scripture which has a hundred or so chapter, nor any of the four Vedas has this number of chapters. The Rig Veda has ten mandalas (sections) and 1,028 Suktas (hymns or songs); the Atharva Veda has 20 kandas (parts) and 759 Suktas; the Yajur Veda has 40 adhyays (Chapters) and 1,975 or 1,400 mantras, and in the Sam Veda there are 1,824 mantras approximately.

Hence, the prophecies mentioned in major revealed and non-revealed religions do not only indicate the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah o Alaih Wasallam but also evidently testify his excellence and prophethood.

  • 2  The Bible, Genesis: 9: 14-19
  • 3  The same verses are translated in King James Version of the Bible as (which is clearer for the argument to understand): “And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, this is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth. And the sons of Noah, who went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.”
